Development

In 1997, after reviewing the available options at the time, the Masters of Business and Technology (MBT) program at UNSW chose WebTeach for its online learning support system. WebTeach has been supporting over 1000 students in the MBT each year since. Its flexibility and structure support the quality teaching and interaction the program demands.

At the same time, other programs at UNSW, notably the Masters program in Psychological Medicine, the undergraduate program in Food Science, and the postgraduate programs in Professional Ethics and in Higher Education, adopted WebTeach to provide the level of structured interaction and support that high quality distance education requires.

In 2002 the MBT program repeated their review of options, and again chose WebTeach as the best. The MBT office is working with WebTeach P/L to develop an enhanced version of the software to incorporate more desirable features identified by the students and staff who have worked with it since 1997.

WebTeach 2 will be in full use in the first session of 2003, supporting over 1000 students in facilitated small groups of 15-25 students. Other programs at UNSW will also be using WebTeach to enable them to provide a quality experience for their distance students that emulates the best campus-based experience available.
